Broken Ranks Launches Dev Blog To Share Future Plans With Players
New Public Test Realm, Intelligence stat, and class reworks.
The developers of Broken Ranks have introduced a new Dev Blog as a way to communicate more transparently with players of the free-to-play MMORPG about ongoing production work and future plans. This format gives insight into design discussions, experiments, and the reasoning behind upcoming changes. Whitemoon emphasizes that nothing presented here is final; some ideas may change or even be discarded, but player feedback will shape the direction.
A big announcement is the long-requested Public Test Realm, launching in about two weeks. This separate server will allow players to test new features with their own characters imported from live servers. The goal is to collect feedback and refine systems before permanent implementation.
Among the planned changes is the introduction of a new stat: Intelligence. It will govern buff difficulty and duration, taking this responsibility away from Knowledge. This change addresses balance issues where mages had a natural advantage while physical classes struggled, particularly Knights. Intelligence reduces AP costs and extends buff durations, forcing all classes to make meaningful trade-offs in their builds.
The Knight class is also receiving a major overhaul. Knights will become more offensive and impactful, with reworked skills like Shield Strike and a stronger Mighty Blow/Calculated Strike combo. Buffs like Sacrifice and Power of Unity will now boost stats rather than stack modifiers, while Aura of Purity and Shield mechanics are being fine-tuned. The aim is to make Knights more effective both solo and in parties.
Sheed adjustments are also coming, most notably a nerf to Front Kick and Chi Punch to prevent the class from being overpowered while introducing new synergies with ranged allies. Other balance tweaks include percentage-based resistances for Thick Skin, Fireball buffs, and elemental scaling nerfs.
Additionally, players will get challenge rerolls to avoid repetitive tasks, skill and stat presets for easier build switching, new periodic instances with rare rewards, and improved daily quest rewards. Also, the developers are still exploring how to fairly balance instance rewards, acknowledging that the right solution hasn’t yet been found.
