Bungie Teases Destiny 2 "The Final Shape", Cayde-6's Return, And Marathon Extraction Shooter During Sony Showcase
Magickmann almost shed a tear after seeing Cayde-6.
Bungie got fans pretty excited during the Sony Showcase today, teasing some new content for Destiny 2 as well as a reboot of an older franchise in Marathon.
We'll start with Destiny 2, and its new teaser trailer for The Final Shape. Cayde-6? Hell, yes!
Also shown off was a teaser trailer for Marathon, a PvP sci-fi extraction shooter.
You can head over to the Marathon website to sign up. Become a runner in this sci-fi extraction shooter to compete for survival, riches, and renown in a world of evolving persistent zones. The year is 2850 and clone technology allows a person to shift their consciousness from their body to new, synthetic bodies and back again. Marathon is currently in development for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The game will feature cross play and cross save.
The team at PlayStation Blog got to chat with General Manager Scott Taylor and Game Director Christopher Barrett who couldn't get over finally being able to talk about Bungie's first new project in almost 10 years. They wanted to reiterate, though, that while this game certainly pays its respects to the Marathon game of 1994 and may nod to that game in places, this isn't a remake or a sequel. Rather, this Marathon game is a newly imagined game happing in the same universe.
Not a ton more information was given beyond the trailers for both games, but Bungie does have a showcase of its own coming up on August 22nd, so we're sure to be getting a lot more info on both Destiny 2 and Marathon then.
