Celebrate 20 Years Of PlanetSide As Part Of The PlanetSide 2 Fortification Update
The anniversary celebration is part of the Fortification Update
Today, Daybreak dropped a new update for PlanetSide 2, introducing overhauls to the game’s Construction System and introducing some special content celebrating 20 years of the PlanetSide IP.
The first PlanetSide launched on May 20, 2003, meaning we have just three days until the IP hits the 20-year mark. In honor of this, the developer is dropping special in-game and real-world items. In fact, the anniversary event kicked off today in the shooter – offering players a chance to win a special weapon. For those wanting something a bit more tangible, Daybreak is also releasing CDs of the game’s soundtrack.
Aside from the anniversary stuff, the Fortification update enhances the game’s building system. The idea is to allow builders to craft bases that non-builders enjoy. It’s also intended to make it easier for players to get involved with the building system. Beyond that, Oshur has been adjusted as well. A full rundown of these changes can be found on the PlanetSide 2 site. Another article on the site provides all the information on the anniversary content.
