Dark And Darker Is Free To Make Its Comeback And The Epic Games Store Will Oblige
There's still the possibility of this game disappearing again.
One of the stories that kept on giving last year was that of Dark and Darker developer Ironmace and their legal battle with Nexon. Accused of stealing ideas and assets from Nexon, a former employer of several Ironmace devs, Dark and Darker was pulled from Steam and has yet to return there. Ironmace denied any wrongdoing, because of course they did, but Nexon's argument that Dark and Darker was a direct copy of a game the former Nexon devs had worked on for Nexon seemed to have some weight to it.
Now Epic Games have stepped in and, in my opinion, taken a bit of a risk as they have announced that Dark and Darker will be making its return on the Epic Games store. Well, I mean, it already kind of made its return, but you've probably never even heard of the site it has been available on. At least the Epic Games Store is a step up from Chaf Games, a site I never even bothered to visit let alone acquire Dark and Darker from.
What it means for Dark and Darker is more visibility again. It's not quite the same as being one of the most wish-listed games on Steam, but it's a far cry from where they've been the past few months. Ironmace can move forward with putting their game on Epic Games following the dismissal of a preliminary injunction in January, but Nexon's lawsuit can still move forward. This could potentially put Epic in a position where they too could have to pull the game in the future should Nexon prove its case in court. If I'm Epic, I'm not sure I'm touching this game until the lawsuit is over, but hey, gotta make them dollars.
Regardless of the lawsuit and accusations from Nexon, Dark and Darker has proven to be a popular game among players, who overall praised the game during its time on Steam.
Dark and Darker is currently listed as "Coming Soon" on Epic Games with no release date listed.

Also back when they were all at Nexon, the head guy was supposedly announcing his intent to exit Nexon, take as many staff with him as he could, and make the game the way he wanted to on his own, which some others at Nexon thought was so insane, they didn't expect it would happen. Then there's the matter of the server he supposedly set up to help manage the work at home situation they were deal with, and supposedly kept, which had all that code they worked on at Nexon. The whole situation just looked nuts.
