Destiny 2’s Star Wars-Inspired Expansion “Renegades” Launches Today
The second expansion in the Year of Prophecy brings element from the sci-fi franchise to the game.

Today, Destiny 2’s Star Wars-themed expansion, Renegades released, bringing elements from the sci-fi series to the free-to-play shooter. The second expansion of the Year of Prophecy and the next chapter in the Fate Saga, Renegades casts players in the role of members of a crew of underdogs preparing to fight a powerful Cabal faction, the Barant Imperium. Drifter believes this group is connected to the Nine. Players will team up with him to investigate and earn a certain amount of influence in the criminal underworld.
A new feature introduced in this update is the Lawless Frontier activity, in which players will take on high-risk, high-reward jobs. These include smuggling, bounty hunting, and sabotage on six new maps inspired by Star Wars locations on Venus, Europa, and Mars.
The update adds new weapons and gear inspired by Star Wars, including a kinetic Exotic Sword inspired by lightsabers, the Praxic Blade. A new dungeon is being added as well, although players will have to wait until December 13.
