Embark Studios' ARC Raiders Is A Free-to-Play Co-op Third-person Shooter Coming In 2022
Strong emphasis on teamwork as you fight robotic invaders from the sky.
Finally, we have a name, and some solid details about Embark Studios' debut effort. ARC Raiders is a free-to-play co-op third-person shooter set in a post-apocalyptic world where hostile machines drop from the sky, which sounds about like how Patrick Söderlund described it nearly three years ago (and a little like Defiance).
You'll have the choice of playing as a number of resistance fighters known as Raiders, including the "uprooted and abandoned" Celeste and the fashionable robot Lance. It looks like there's a strong focus on teamwork, and that includes weapons like the giant howitzer cannon that requires two people. For solo efforts, you can use the snap hook, a grappling-hook gun that lets you reach otherwise unaccessible heights.
There aren't a lot of solid details in the game's descriptive materials about exactly what you'll be doing, other than shooting machines, or how you'll be doing it. One intriguing tidbit is that you'll "go beyond simply matching ammo to a weapon" and "experience action where combat demands unrehearsed creativity."
Find out more about ARC Raiders on its website, or wishlist it on Steam and the Epic Games Store. It will also launch on Nvidia GeForce NOW’s game streaming service, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S in 2022.
