Epic Games To Host A $3 Million Fortnite Celebrity Charity Tournament At E3
E3's just around the corner, and Epic Games has big plans for it. Of course, there are the obligatory parties, and booths, as well as whatever panels they plan on doing. But the biggest thing (according to a report on IGN) is a special celebrity charity tournament -- the Fortnite Pro-AM.
The tournament will pair celebrities with Fortnite pros, creating 50 two-man-teams that will compete with each other for a chance to win a $3 million prize for their charity of choice. Currently five teams have been announced -- including YouTuber Markiplier teamed with actor Joel McHale, and the music industry's Marshmellow teaming up with Twitch streamer Ninja.
The event will be open to the (paying) public, with those in the Los Angeles area being able to purchase tickets for $10. From what IGN says, it seems there will be some sort of invite system where players located in LA will be sent an email that will allow them to make this purchase.
Oh. And if you're wondering. No. The three million for this event is not being taken from the $100,000,000 Epic has set aside for Fortnite tournaments over the coming year.
