Free-To-Play MMORPG Skyforge Prepares For Final Farewell After A Decade
The last patch brings generous rewards, returning events, and one more battle before servers close.
Skyforge, a free-to-play sci-fi MMORPG that launched in July 2015, is officially shutting down after more than a decade of service.
Publisher MY.GAMES, alongside operator Innova/4game, confirmed that the game’s “rightholder” decided to discontinue the project on all platforms. European and American PC servers will close on September 3, with console servers following on October 29.
Once closed, player accounts for Skyforge will become inaccessible, and the game’s social media channels will be disabled, though 4game and Steam accounts will remain usable for other titles. And to prepare for the closure, in-game payments through 4game and Steam have been disabled, preventing new microtransactions.
The developers will hold a celebratory farewell before the end. A final patch introduces three action-packed gaming weeks of sunset events, including the return of old outfits, significant daily login rewards in the form of argents (allowing players to purchase those outfits), the “Everything Comes to an End” achievement, and the reappearance of the Summer Breeze event. This last season focuses on the Mechanoid invasion, giving players one final large-scale challenge.
