Skyforge’s Story Is Coming To An End, The Game Is Being Shuttered
It’s the end of an Era.
The free-to-play sci-fi MMORPG Skyforge has been around for just a bit over a decade now, having launched in July of 2015. Unfortunately, it won’t last another decade. Recently, it was announced that the game’s “rightholder has made the decision to discontinue the project on all platforms”, and that the game would be shuttering on September 3.
To facilitate this closure, payments via 4game and Steam have been disabled, meaning players can no longer purchase microtransactions for the game. The announcement on the 4game site promises that the Skyforge team will continue support operations until the game closes. Following that, player accounts will be inaccessible, although players will obviously be able to continue using their 4game and Steam accounts for other games. The game’s social media accounts will be disabled at this time as well.
As is often the case when an online game closes, the devs have come up with special activities for the last month of service. Some will be announced later, but we do know that players will be able to try out equipment and take part in special events.
