Funcom Tweeks Age of Conan Free to Play Restrictions
It looks like The Secret World isn't the only Funcom title to make payment model changes this week. Age of Conan has also received a few updates that free to play players will probably be huge fans of. If you enjoy playing Age of Conan for free be sure to check out some of the new features you are able to take advantage of all without any cost to you! In addition to game events, updates, and fixes the 3.5 update also includes the following changes to the free to play model:
- All Classes are now available: Free players may now try any of the game's classes completely free.
- Classic Dungeons are Unlocked: The complete selection of classic dungeons are now unlocked for free play. This includes ALL of the pre-80 dungeons and a selection of level 80 dungeons as well. Level 90 adventures in The Crow's Nest, The Iron Tower, Xibaluku, The Slaughterhouse Cellar and Attilius' mansion are now available for free play.
- Gold Cap Increased: In order to allow free players to engage more in the end game economy , in particular with the incoming new crafting system in mind, the gold cap on free accounts has been raised from 2g to 10g.
Funcom has sited player feedback and a desire to draw new players to the title as the reason for these updates. Given the upcoming new Conan movie that may not be a bad idea. Full patch notes can be read here.

i might check it out again.i enjoyed AoC alot when i subbed. but just not enough to keep paying for it. then the "Free to restrict" came out and i said i wouldnt touch it.. but it looks like at least 95% of the game is available now.
will redownload and check it out.
And I played this game a long time. Pretty sure thats not internet lag but poor PC performance.
Tried 3 times to stick to AoC but it didn't work out too well. Specially because most of my guildmates wouldn't touch it with a pole due to the class restrictions. Kind of late to get them to try it after they got hooked up on AION >.>
