The grand finale to the Sumeru Archon questline arrived in Genshin Impact on November 2 to conclude many threads of the main storyline. However, at the highest heights of cliffhangers in the final chapter, players have reported a big quality-of-life issue that screeches their journey to a halt: Unfinished character quests tied to the main story that locks them out until complete.

One player on Twitter, BaizhuMains, has advised those unfamiliar that when doing the latest Archon questline to "not unlock all your character quests." Although, unlocking and completing the quests beforehand will let players avoid the issue entirely.

The problem is that many fans have forgotten about those they accepted, and three characters - Cyno, Tighnari, and Nilou - have quests that conflict with the mainline events. Eventually, players will receive an unexpected info box at significant moments in the story where all the exciting stuff is happening that prevents them from continuing.

According to a Reddit post, completing the side stories would take roughly an hour, and depending on how many quests are accepted, they will easily stretch across a few days of playtime for casual fans. With that in mind, it's clear how this can become frustrating when the story events have been highly marketed and the focal point of the update.

Kotaku has reached out to HoYoverse to see if side character quests would receive a patch to resolve main story conflicts but hasn't gotten a response as of this writing. If they could implement a patch to work around how the process works, it would definitely be less of a nuisance to fans.
