Genshin Impact Gets Update Dates And Co-Op Event, World Expansion Still 2 Months Away

A great many Genshin Impact players have completed all of the available main story already and are eagerly awaiting an update that will release new areas of the map and continue the main campaign. While Genshin Impact has an update planned for next month already, it isn't exactly the update players are waiting for as they grind out adventure ranks post main story.

According to a blog post from miHoYo, that is available in a translated fashion on reddit, the free-to-play RPG will receive its first post-launch update on November 11th, but this probably isn't the update players want to see right now. The November 11th, or Version 1.1, update adds what the post calls the "Unreturned Star Off" event (translations of that name vary). As Forbes points out, it's probably a good thing this patch isn't the content adding patch players want seeing as it falls smack in the middle of the PS5 and XBox releases, as well as in the week of a few MAJOR AAA releases...namely Call of Duty and Cyberpunk 2077.

The following update, or version 1.2, will drop on December 23rd...two days before Christmas, and is likely the update players are more interested in as it will expand the world map by adding the Dragonspine Snow Mountain area and continue the main campaign. A third update is currently scheduled for February and miHoYo aims to continue on the "once every five weeks" update schedule in the future.

Finally, a new Co-Op event goes live on Monday the 12th and will run for one week. During the Elemental Crucible event, players will have to work together to enhance alchemical processes by feeding the Elemental Crucible...here's to hoping it isn't just another resin sink though. This event will run for 1 week and you'll need to be at least Adventure Rank 20 and have completed all quests in Prologue: Act II to take part in the festivities. Doing so will score you "bounties, including Character EXP materials, Adventure EXP, and more. Bounties will be calculated based on each Traveler's individual World Level. You can also obtain rewards such as Primogems, Character Ascension materials, and more by completing achievements in the Alchemy Handbook."
