MTG Arena Sending Players On A Five-Week Plane-cation For Free Loot
It's time for a Plane-cation in Magic: The Gathering Arena, so pack your suitcases (of cards) and head for ... well, nowhere, because you can play MTG Arena in your home. Considering the heat wave going on this weekend, that's not a bad idea.
The Plane-cation is a five-week event that starts on Sunday, July 28 and continues through Tuesday of each week for five weeks. In that time, you'll need to earn at least six wins, getting rewards along the way for each win. They start with basic lands, themed around the plane that the week is "set" on, and you can use gems to purchase additional basic lands and basic land card styles in the Store. Based on player feedback, the event has intentionally been made shorter and less grind-y than the previous War of the Spark event.
The event arrives alongside a new "State of the Beta" report, which also details some new events and ... wait, was this a thing?
After the July 25 game update, you should notice some serious improvements with how Magic: The Gathering Arena handles updates to the game. First, you'll no longer be required to download and reinstall the entire game client with most updates.
That's pretty insane, even for a game that's in "beta."
