New Destiny 2 Update Overhauls Exotic Armor In Preparation For Edge Of Fate
Armor 3.0 for Exotics, gear-swapping strategies nerfed, and subclass tuning ahead of the next expansion.
In the recent This Week In Destiny post, Bungie unveiled an update for Destiny 2 — setting the stage for the upcoming Edge of Fate expansion.
Beginning July 15, all newly acquired Exotic armor in the free-to-play shooter will drop with the full benefits of Armor 3.0, including improved stat archetypes, full mod energy, and Masterwork capabilities. Players will also receive 20 free Exotic focuses from Ada-1, allowing them to target specific armor archetypes and streamline buildcrafting. Previously acquired gear will be automatically converted into the new system with no loss in stats.
Unfortunately for Warlocks though, the Exotic chest piece Sanguine Alchemy was nerfed. Bungie is introducing a 10-second cooldown when equipping it mid-combat to discourage frequent exotic gear-swapping during fights. Also, Exotic class items will no longer be upgradable to Artifice status, though they will retain max stats post-conversion.
Looking ahead to Edge of Fate, significant subclass tuning is being implemented across all three classes. Warlocks will see changes to abilities like Pocket Singularity and various Void and Strand effects; Titans will benefit from improved Shield Throw tracking; and Hunters will get consistency improvements to Gambler’s Dodge.
Finally, a new Featured Exotics system will also rotate 28 weapons and 15 armor pieces into the spotlight, giving players guidance on top-tier builds without removing access to the full Exotic pool.
