OW2 Fox Hero Leak Clarified

An Overwatch 2 developer from Blizzard has confirmed the support fox hero leak on Reddit was "fake," sliding in a Naruto joke for good measure. It was quite the elaborate fake, as it revealed details about a shuriken-wielding healer with a crazy dimensional-breaking ultimate ability that was all smoke and mirrors in the end. While the confirmation has routed player hype around this rumored character, it hasn't stopped speculation on the blue kitsune's identity.

Blizzard's Commercial Lead and VP Jon Spector went onto Reddit to clarify the leak, aptly saying, "Yes, this is fake." Spector stated, "generally [Blizzard] don't comment on things like this," but I'd imagine they didn't want to get people's hopes up on the matter and decided to put it to rest.

The majority of fans were skeptical before Spector announced it was fake. Some point out the leak "sounds super fake," "the model really doesn't look right," and the ultimate ability was too busted to be real. In the end, this may be someone's wannabe Overwatch character, but we couldn't say until Blizzard explains who or what the kitsune is.

Appearing during the Overwatch 2 reveal event trailer, the blue kitsune runs through the Kanezaka map with heroes behind them. An insider on a message board claimed the fox spirit is a pet to Yako, the daughter of Asa who keeps the peace in town and also wields a shuriken in battle. Adding weight to their claim is Sojourn being one of the new heroes, but supposedly, another called Mauga would come to the game, too.

Of course, take everything with a grain of salt, but do you think this blue fox could be related to a new hero in Overwatch 2? Let us know below!

Note: Activision Blizzard is still under investigation by the state of California for serious harassment charges. CEO Bobby Kotick is alleged to have known about such actions within his company – and performed some himself – and shielded the perpetrators from consequences.
