If you need a break from playing Path of Exile, the game, you’ll soon be able to play Path of Exile, the game … book.
The Lord’s Labyrinth is described as a “choose your own path” book that casts readers in the role of Weylin of Ezomyr, a slave-turned-gladiator who fights his way through the aforementioned labyrinth under the auspices of Wraeclast’s infamous mad Emperor Izaro. As befitting Path of Exile, The Lord’s Labyrinth isn’t just a simple “Choose Your Own Adventure” book with decisions to make; it’s got a set of RPG-like rules that include statistics and Ascendancy classes. There’s also some really great artwork, which you can sample here.
The author of the book is former Minnesota Vikings punter Chris Kluwe, who’s not as odd a choice as you might think. When I was working for Beckett Massive Online Gamer in the early part of this decade, I learned of Kluwe’s gaming passions and contracted him to write articles for our magazine covering World of Warcraft and League of Legends, as well as the occasional editorial. He’s apparently moved on to Path of Exile, thus continuing his progression through games with “of” in the title.
The Lord’s Labyrinth will be available to “higher tiers of the new Core Supporter Packs” by the end of the year, though there are plans to make it available outside of those packs at a later time.
