Pearl Abyss's Colorful Creature-Collecting DokeV Gets New Trailer
Showcases open world, player abilities, and combat.
If you've got a good memory, you might recall us mentioning DokeV when it was announced by Black Desert Online dev Pearl Abyss nearly two years ago. It later got a trailer that showed off some gameplay with a catchy tune, and today at Gamescom, we got yet another look at the visually appealing upcoming title.
DokeV (pronounced in three syllables: "do-ki-vee," not "doak-vee") looks to take place largely in a city with plenty of opportunities for open exploration, though the trailer also showcases some woodlands and watersports. The player avatars, monsters, and combat moves have a brightly colored, over-the-top aestethic that's clearly meant for a younger audience, but -- if I'm being perfectly honest with myself -- look kind of fun.
DokeV is described on its website as being a "creature-collecting open world action-adventure" game -- in other words, not altogether dissimilar to Pokémon. Its fully 3D, open-world nature, adds an interesting and appealing spin to the formula, though. It's a little early to label it the "next big thing," but it's got a chance of at least being decently successful.
