Skyforge Disabling Its Battle Royale Mode, Will Return As "A Separate Event"
Over the past few years, seemingly every game has been scrambling to climb aboard the battle royale train that was kicked into high gear by Fortnite in 2017. (Remember this one? Or this one?) One of the strangest to come across our virtual news desks was the battle royale mode that was added to Skyforge in 2018. It felt like a square peg trying to jam itself into a round hole, a mode that didn't fit the game and that nobody wanted.
But that all would have been excused if it was fun to play, right? Well, according to Magicman's First Look, it wasn't. And a lot of people seemed to agree with that, as the mode is now going away for a revamp.
My.Games posted a brief note today on the Skyforge website explaining that the battle royale mode will be temporarily disabled as the dev team looks at "turning it into a separate event that would add variety to the gameplay and give immortals an opportunity to earn extra rewards." It's almost as if hastily glomming a new mode into a game with no real plan is a bad idea!
If you still want to get into the "classic" BR mode -- and if you do, please let us know why -- you have until the the anniversary update rolls out April 8-9. I'd give it about 50/50 odds of coming back.
