Samurai Zero

Neo Interactive's Samurai Zero is an upcoming PvP "tactical hack and slash game" set in a world inspired by feudal Japan. It offers a "unique champloo of fast paced octane" with RPG systems and the ability to play solo or in a team of two or three. You'll choose from a roster of "superpowered samurai" and learn about the cast of characters and the world they inhabit as you hone your skills in fast-paced arena battles.

Samurai Zero has a personal connection to MMOBomb -- our F2P Weekly maven Ethos is the title's creative director -- and it recently became one of eight games become part of Humble Bundle's Black Game Developer Fund, which was established to lend aid to "talented game makers with a passion for their craft." Their additions brings the number of games participating in the fund to 25.

"With the extra funding, we are pushing Samurai Zero to the next level by introducing a new multiplayer map, adding our first team-based game mode, and implementing additional Samurai that players will be able to play as," Ethos said in the announcement on the BGDF site. "Each of these Samurai will have their own unique combat style and identity."

The game recently had its first multiplayer test, which Neo Interactive's Eric "0neguy" Kelley said had over 1,000 playtesters and included a trial tournament that offered some "seriously impressive gameplay" and received "overwhelmingly positive feedback."

Other new additions to the BGDF include:

  • CryoGX: Advent Neon
  • Jordan Scott: Arbiter
  • Kaizen Creed: 5 Force Fighters
  • Miscellaneum Studios: Distraction Machine
  • Pancake Games: Slime Heroes
  • RainBros: (To Be Announced)
  • Soft Not Weak: Spirit Swap: Lofi Beats to Match-3 To

Congratulations all around!
