The War Within Pushes Warframe To #3 On Steam, Boasts 26 Million Registered Players
Everyone gets their turn in the spotlight, and last weekend it was Warframe's turn. Digital Extremes' hack-and-slasher released a new update, The War Within, last Friday, and it was enough to push the game to #3 in concurrent players on Steam.
According to a press release, Warframe peaked at 68,350 concurrent players over the weekend, with 1.2 million total hours played during one day. Toss in Xbox One and PS4 players, and you've got over a million unique active players, with 26 million total registered since the game's launch in March 2013.
While "We're number three!" may not sound to impressive on the surface, it's the best any game can realistically hope to achieve on Steam, where Dota 2 and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive have a stranglehold on the #1 and #2 slots, with #3 having around 10% of the players of #2. But hey, a space ninja can dream, can't he?
