Hearthstone’s one-on-one PvP duels are fun but they can get a bit dull after the first hundred or so. Blizzard realizes this and plans to mix things up Soon(TM) with the first in a new single-player game mode called adventures: Curse of Naxxramas.

Once within the floating necropolis, you’ll do battle against the horrors of the fortress across five different wings, accumulating loot all along the way. At the end of each wing is a Legendary card, but you’ll have to take down a tough boss monster to get at the shiny loot. Curse of Naxxramas also ups the visuals of the basic game board, giving you new stuff to click on — ooh…

The game mode will be unlocked, one wing at a time, over a series of five weeks. The Arachnid Quarter will be the first wing and will be free to all players. Like the Arena, you’ll gain access to the rest of Naxx through in-game gold or a real-money purchase.

How about it? Does Curse of Naxxramas sound like something you’re itching to try in Hearthstone?

  1. So, we have to pay gold to play this mode? Yeah, no thanks. Another gold sink = furthering the p2w aspect. Game is boring as hell anyway same decks everywhere

  2. no release date except “this summer” which could very well mean the end of august and possibly delayed further given blizzard’s rep.

  3. Was hoping for more cards, but the ones they showed are very interesting. New mode is also very good to keep the casual/not-so-into multiplayer playerbase entertained and engaged.

Looking forward for this patch and the future of Hearthstone, Blizzard is taking the right steps as usual. I just wish there was less RNG in the game, but I guess that’s something you can’t take away from TCGs.

  4. Sounds great, and a much-needed addition to the game. I can imagine future adventure possibilities and all the lore and different well-known locations that could be used. The potential is nearly endless..!
