Albion Online Dev Update Reveals “Major New Features” Coming In The Next Update
These include changes to Roads of Avalon, and a “massive new feature”, The Mists.
When Albion Online’s next content update hits it will make big changes to some of the game’s existing content while adding new things for players to do. The update introduces changes for Roads of Avalon based on player feedback, an all-new environment known as The Mists, new artifacts and items, and more.
The bulk of the new content centers on The Mists, an unusual new region that can only be accessed through a network of “unpredictable and temporary connections”. In this way, it’s similar to the Roads of Avalon, but each entrance only allows a single player through before it disappears. That said, there are multiple entrances, so there’s still a chance for players to bump into each other. The region will allow for both solo PvE and PvP play.
Another interesting feature of The Mists is that a city exists there. However, it doesn’t have a fixed location and instead “drifts” through The Mists. Sometimes players can find their way in through The Mists or The Roads, but not everyone will be able to make their way through. For players that manage to access it, the city will function as a bit of a hub with access to both the Roads and The Mists as well as other forms of small-scale content. It can also function as a base for solo and small group adventures.
As with any new region, The Mists will introduce new creatures, new artifacts, and more. Some of the new items will need to be crafted using materials obtained from the creatures found in The Mists.
As mentioned, Roads of Avalon will be getting some changes as well. These may be a result of the introduction of The Mists, as they include things like shifting the focus to small-group gameplay. In addition, the ability to establish Hideouts has been made easier while it’s been made more difficult to control high-value zones.
