Build Fortifications And Be Prepared To Defend Them With The Launch Of Albion Online’s Foundations Update
A new era of warfare has arrived.
Today, Sandbox Interactive dropped the second major content update to its medieval fantasy MMORPG Albion Online. The update, titled ‘Foundations’, introduces new PvP features to the game. The biggest of which is the ability to build and upgrade fortifications in order to defend guild territories. Of course, the fortifications won’t just stop the enemy. They can still be damaged or destroyed. But, they’ll definitely slow them down.
Tied to fortifications are siege banners. These are required to raid a territory and must be raised near fortifications to weaken their defenses. Just, uh. Be careful, because a defending guild can attack the banner bearers and force them to drop them or even destroy them.
Of course, you won’t just be fighting for the sake of fighting. There are rewards to be had for taking part in these battles. In fact, Foundations has introduced new Territory Activity Chests, which accumulate loot through PvP in a given region. Once Prime Time comes to an end, the owners of a territory can open the chest and take the rewards. That is unless a raiding guild steals what’s in the chest during combat.
The update also introduces a feature players have been wanting for a while, Spectator Mode. Now, players can view custom matches without having to be part of them. This will come in handy for those wanting to run tournaments. Players can also look forward to new weapons and other features that are outlined in the notes on the Albion Online site.
