Card Game "Death Or Glory" Combines Anime Power And Fighting Game Mechanics
Cards use a speed system similar to the frames of a fighting game.
Death or Glory, a new card game from Distilled Gaming Company, has launched on Steam Early Access. The game combines anime-style powers with a turn-based system that allows players to react to most attacks. This means they’re able to dodge or block attacks. The game also uses a speed system that, like a fighting game, assures a heavy attack will still land in spite of a smaller block.
Players will need to manage stamina and other resources in order to win their fight. Even piloting a mech requires players to manage resources – in this case, the temperature. Doing so allows them to execute certain combos.
The game offers a roguelike adventure mode that plays like a traditional roguelike deckbuilder as well. The mode features multiple maps that change and evolve based on player progress.
Players can choose from several champions, which are split into five different classes. Each character has a unique playstyle and its own resource. For example, those playing a werewolf will use slash attacks that require rage to execute.
