After Paragon Studios shuttered its doors to City of Heroes (Arguably, one of the best superhero themed MMORPG), many thought that would be the last we’d see of the game. But wipe that sad look off your face and throw on bitchin’ cape, because we are witnessing the spiritual successor, City of Titans, being born.

With over 100 developers, most of them being volunteers and fans of COH, Missing Worlds Media’s City of Titans just successfully launched their Kickstarter. At the moment, they have raised $332,555 (Out of their goal of $320,00), with 27 days still left to go. I’d say its pretty safe to say that the public is taking a liking to COT.

In their Kickstarter video, they show the time-line of their development; their struggles and their successes. Showcasing their recent adoption of the Unity engine and how most recently they developed character creation; the world of COT has a familiar look with a lot of potential.

  1. Having played city of heroes this announcement excites me..but I’ve also learned to be wary of the industry at large. I’ve read over the kickstarter and there’s a lot of grandiose claims and hype–I’ll not believe it until I see it.

  2. Glad for them. This must be one of the most beautiful stories about a game and it’s community.
Not a F2P game though. It’s a B2P with cash shop and sub option.

      • Quoting the kickstarter page that is only few days old:
“This game has to pay for itself. As an employee owned and community driven effort, we had a meeting and came to some conclusions. There were a few people that felt the game should be free for all, but the numbers just do not work for it.”…
“To support the game, we will be charging for what we call ‘the box.’ It may be a purchase via an online service such as Steam or through our website, but there will be a fee for the game itself. This fee, however, will effectively cover the first three months of subscription. “…
“Secondly, and more pragmatically, it means the people playing the game will, at least in theory, be able to use our cash shop.
Yes, we are going to have a cash shop, but we’re going to hold very tightly to certain rules. 1: A good value for money. 2: No Pay To Win. 3: Something for Everyone. We’re going to want you to use it, but we’re going to want you to want to use it, too.”…
“As for Subscriptions, yes, the plan is to offer them, but not require them. Once you have purchased the game, you can play the game. You will get a few months of the VIP Subscription with your game purchase off the bat, and will have the option of continuing to subscribe, or to play as a free player and purchase from the cash shop a la carte.”

        • Ah sorry I didn’t see that one. At first I assumed it was going to be free to play becuase MMOBOMB is a free to play review site.

          • Yes we only posted it here because we had many many visitors asking about the game’s future back when it was shutting down. We even had a reader write a Memberzone post about it.

  3. Looks cool, I hope they make one change though. They should make it an action game instead of a click combat game. I guess if they want to keep it true to COH they would have to, make it a click combat, but fewer games are going in that direction.

    • too little point and click games to be honest and the few that are actually whore out the cash shop horrendously if they are free. and If not they are a sub sometimes >.<

  4. Mounted. Yay my second one.
It looks a little promising but I’m probably going to prefer being a villain than a hero #GtaOnline
