You can finally live out your DC Universe fantasy! DC Universe Online has launched and is now available for free to all players.

Sony Online Entertainment announced that players can now download and play its popular massively multiplayer online action game DC Universe Online (DCUO) for free. Starting today, all PC and PlayStation 3 players can create their own legendary superhero – or villain – and join forces with their favorite DC Comics characters, including Superman, Batman and the Joker to either save – or destroy – the planet.

There are three access levels in DCUO: Free, Premium and Legendary. All three levels will provide access to the game and include all game updates and fixes to the game, with each level offering differing game options and features. DLC content and features will also be included for Legendary players, and can be purchased by Free and Premium players. The levels include:

· Free: New players will now have access to the current gameplay in DC Universe Online (including Gotham City, Metropolis, and all current raids and alerts), with the ability to create two characters, join a league and many other benefits. Free level players will be able to purchase downloadable game packs/updates, additional character slots, powers and more through microtransactions.

· Premium: Any player who has spent at least $5 USD (including former paid subscribers and new players who have purchased $5 of in-game items) will qualify for the Premium access level. Premium level players will have more benefits available to them than the Free level player, including additional character slots, additional inventory slots, and higher cash limits. Downloadable adventure packs, additional character slots, and more can be purchased in-game.

· Legendary: Maximum features and benefits are included at this level. Loaded with enhanced additional features, Legendary access will be available for a $14.99 USD monthly fee and includes all DLC packs at no cost, more than 15 character slots, more than 80 inventory slots, the ability to form unrestricted-sized leagues, and many other benefits.

You guys need to do a first look video for DCUO. Its easily the best free to play MMORPG out now. Its even better than Lord of the Rings Online and Age of Conan. Which were the top two in my opinion. Now I’d say it goes DCUO, AOC, and then LOTRO. F2P MMORPG speaking that is.

What can i say i played it in the PS3 AND IT WAS THE BEST EXPERIENCE EVER if you have a PS3 give it a try or if you have and awesome PC with a high Graphic card and a Controller(its the way this game was ment to be played)give it a try

The restrictions aren’t too bad. I actually like the game a lot and I’ve been playing for free. Plus I’ve been playing on the PC with a XBOX 360 controller. Tried the mouse and keyboard, but didn’t feel right for this game. I’d think if you can use the XBOX 360 controller, you probably could use any PC game controller. Also I’d go as far to say that DCUO is the best MMO currently on the market right now. Only game that will beat it will be Star Wars: The Old Republic, but when TOR comes out. I’ll be playing Both TOR and DCUO.

For those who do not understand…the free profiles will not be able to use the Voice chat program, not the actual chat program. Why would they set such a silly restriction, that would drive away potential customers.

Btw, played this game from Open Beta to well about a month ago, great game via PS3 dont know about PC…if your bummed about not being able to play via PC just get it via PS3…its better anyways it was built around the PS3 format, not PC

my friend played the game (F2P version) and after server maintenance it goes in to log in qeues. forum indicating it is putting legenday members are a higher priority. so, then how are they going to new legendary members if the new players are not able to log in and experience the game ? this is like the worst business plan (idea) for a good mmorpg that went from P2P to F2P. just hope they can add more servers or make it first to go to the game should be the one to log in. not this priority crap.

I’ve actually tried it and compared to the f2p conversions of COH and CO it’s pretty good. Although the chat/trade/login restricts do seem a bit much, it didn’t take too much from my overall experiance with dcuo and pay 5 bucks and the restricts are gone! sooooooo yaaa DOCTOR FATE CLONE FTW!!!!!

    • Durian on November 2, 2011

    • OoepicfaceoO on November 3, 2011

its not true i downloaded and played it you can chat freely to any player you like or shout out to the whole server.I dont know about the trading since i dont know how to trade with players unless you mean marketplace that you can use other than that its a lie

    • Hacchan on November 6, 2011

      Global agenda shit game?
it’s true that it was better whn it wasn’t free but GA got not much restricton.

DC Universe don’t have much restriction too and just 5$ for lifetime premium is what i call cheap and easy to have.
Im still on free account but got no restriction and before saying insane restrictions go actually play the game before saying bunch of crap 🙂

Oh and about the item shop it’s kinda well… good thing to know pay to win wont be on this game 🙂

Most of the style item are ugly (some with a galaxy texture those are epic fail xD)
The few interesting item are those for item expend or ticket.

Btw for now DC Universe is kinda impossible de play (or to enjoy it much) because the server can’t handle the number of player so it can be hard to play as there’s huge lag at some time.

Man, I have mixed feelings from this one. They said the restrictions are too much. Can’t chat, can’t trade, etc. Well I will try this game though, in a near future. Any pros about this game?
