Destiny's Weapon Divinity

This Week at Bungie is a doozy of a blog post bringing with it huge weapon changes. Destiny 2 has always had an impressive arsenal of weapons for players to test out and try, but one weapon has always had a leg up on the others–the Divinity. Divinity has had balance issues since it was first released due to its incredibly dominant stance in endgame PvE with its precision and ability to weaken enemies. The devs say that “the most important issue is that Divinity granting 30% weaken sucks the air out of the room for all other weaken sources,” and with that, Divinity’s old 30% debuff on targets has been reduced drastically to 15%.

While some might be upset about the change, especially if they leaned on this weapon to carry them through most content, the time has come to try out some new methods. Many games buff and nerf weapons constantly, all for the sake of making a more balanced game. Perhaps this will affect the game drastically and will need to be buffed, or maybe this is the perfect rendition. Only time will tell.

Moving right along, the blog post also took some time to talk about Adept raid weapon viability as well as future plans for Exotic Champion weapons. To start, crafted base raid weapons are “flat out better than Adept raid weapons.” Their words, not ours. Because of this, some changes will be coming in Lightfall that give the new Lightfall raid Adept weapons access to enhanced perks.

As for Exotic Champion weapons, Destiny does not have specific plans to add anti-Champion mechanics to existing Exotic weapons as of now. The goal of recent additions was to address some holes in the options available. However, there will be anti-Champion functionality in the new Exotic weapons in Season 19 and other weapons may be revisited or looked at if need be.

Guardians that want to read the full post and have some time to spare can head over to Bungie’s site for all the details.
