Destiny 2 Player’s Character Was Mysteriously Wiped From Existence And Needed The Bungie Team To Get The Titan Back
Don’t worry, this appears to be an isolated incident and hopefully won’t happen again.
Bungie recently underwent a rescue mission after learning that one of their Guardian's Titan character had suddenly disappeared after logging in. “I didn't do anything out of the ordinary,” began the Destiny 2 player on Reddit. “I just logged in and selected my titan, and then I got a black screen with the little text at the bottom of the screen saying contacting servers. Once it was done, it returned me to the character select screen but my titan was missing and I'm assuming everything I had on the titan which was most of my crafted and god roll weapons.”
After receiving 4000 upvotes and 900 comments, the post soon went on to catch Bungie's attention and the rescue mission began. Community Manager and Co-ead of Accessibility Liana Ruppert revealed that the team recovered the character and mentioned that no other accounts were affected. They then went on to explain how “this was an extremely complicated process that required a variety of teams and numerous hours to implement for a single account.”
After the user’s character and items were restored, they returned to their original Reddit post to update everyone on what had happened, even including praise to Bungie’s team. “I'd like to thank the Bungie team who helped me get my titan back. It's honestly amazing to have a company work so hard just to restore one player's character, they could have easily just said nothing (like many triple-A companies).”
