Destiny 2 Iron Banner Update

Earlier this month, the Iron Banner returned to Destiny 2 but it wasn’t exactly what players were wanting. It was too grindy.

Bungie’s apparently been listening to players on this, and according to the latest This Week at Bungie post, the devs have made changes to improve on this. On January 31, Bungie will introduce an updated version of Iron Banner. This update will increase the amount of Iron Banner Ranks players earn at the end of matches, doubles the multipliers received from wearing Iron Banner gear, and “significantly” increases the multiplier players get from wearing the emblem. However, it also halves the multipliers received for completing challenges. The results should all balance out in the end to decrease the number of games needed to earn a Rank reset by about 40%.

Also discussed in the post were mods. As of now, all standard armor mods are unlocked for all players. That’s big news. The idea is to give everyone a chance to enjoy them for the rest of the Season. For those wondering, “standard” means everything but raid and artifact mods. Interestingly, these unlocked mods are not going to appear as unlocked in Collections, but they can still be used freely. Details on mods and buildcrafting will be made available in a later post on the Bungie site.
