Destiny 2's Timeline Reflection Missions Help Players Get Caught Up On The Story
Feeling lost in the Destiny 2 story? They've got you covered.
Destiny 2 is taking a long look at their new and returning player experiences, introducing several systems to help players get their bearings in the looter shooter.
Now we've got Timeline Reflections, a system put into place to help players catch up on the (sometimes dense) lore of the game. Players who haven't logged in for a while will find themselves in front of Ikora, who will instruct them to take on three 10-minute missions designed to catch players up on what's happening in the world of Destiny 2.
The first one, "Cayde's Fate", is an abbreviated version of the Forsaken Prison Break mission. The second mission shows how Guardians learned to wield the Darkness, and the third catches players up on why the Lucent Hive can use the Light. Each Timeline Reflection will grant a Legendary weapon the first time they are completed. Each mission will begin with a cinematic to help set the stage for the story it is telling.
Ikora can also show players two standalone cinematics that help explain the core setting of Destiny. These are the two motion graphic scenes we've seen since last summer.
These changes along with previous improvements should go a long way to helping new and returning players not feel so lost in the world of Destiny 2.
