Players are getting PLENTY of notice on this one as CD Projekt Red told IGN that GWENT, the F2P card game based on the Witcher franchise, will get plenty of updates in 2023 including 72 new cards and 2 tournaments, but after the end of the year the game will pretty much be in maintenance mode.

At the close of next year, most of the GWENT team will be moved over to other projects and a skeleton crew will be tasked with what CDPR calls "Project Gwentfinity." Basically balance changes, season progression changes, and a focus on community to ensure the game stays around for years to come.

Senior Communications Manager Pawel Burza reminisced on their time on GWENT via Twitter and encouraged players to help make 2023 one hell of a year for the card game.

The team really wants players to know this is NOT the end as 2023 has a lot in store and the game isn't being shutdown, but yes, this will be the final year of content development before the team lets what they hope will be a very balanced game be driven by interaction with the community rather than new content going forward.
