Dota 2 Introduces New Character Whose Job It Is To Hand Out Free Cosmetics To Players
Meet Quartero.
Dota 2 has a new patch out, and aside from the normal stuff you’d expect in a MOBA update, this one has something players should really like, mostly because it means free stuff. According to a post on the Dota 2 Steam page, the devs had been looking over data regarding the game’s dashboard, which has primarily been dedicated to showing players their match results. That can be pretty depressing if you’re having a rough patch.
So, to make the dash a better experience, the devs have decided to introduce Quartero. This is a new character who lives on the dashboard and gives out free cosmetics. To earn cosmetics, players just need to play matches. Completing matches, win or lose, will earn players progress toward the free goodies. At the same time, they can learn more about Quartero. Really, there’s no choice. He wants his story to be heard.
The post also notes that this feature won’t replace big events. Rather, it will complement them. It’s likely that Quartero will show up more often when there’s nothing else going on.
