Fortnite Kicks Off Lantern Fest, Brings Back Building, And Raises A Lot Of Money For Charity
All total, the community has helped raise $144 million for those affected by the war in Ukraine.
Get ready for a little “Fortography”. (Hah!) Fortnite’s Lantern Fest is underway and in addition to the hanging of lanterns and the upcoming lantern trials, there will also be a picture-taking contest. Players are asked to visit locations all around the island and take a screenshot of their favorite Lantern Fest moment. Sharing the screenshot on Twitter using #Lantography2022 by April 8 will earn players a chance to receive a code for the Cameo Needs Loot! Emoticon.
In other news, you may remember that we told you Fortnite may be keeping the “no building” mode. You may not be surprised to find out this is true. However, it doesn’t mean the death of building. Epic announced over the weekend that building has, in fact, returned and that players can now choose between regular Fortnite Battle Royale or the new Fortnite Zero Build modes.

Finally, in a triple round-up, Epic announced this morning that with the help of the Fortnite community and Xbox they’d managed to raise $144 million USD to help with relief in Ukraine. This money will be split between Direct Relief, UNICEF, WFP, Refugees, and WC Kitchen.
Our deepest thanks to everyone who joined us in supporting humanitarian relief efforts for people affected by the war in Ukraine.
