GAMESCOM 2022: Funcom Announces New Open World Survival MMO Dune: Awakening
Soon, players can explore the world of Arrakis.
Funcom is adding another game to its MMO portfolio, the first in a long time. Taking advantage of the Dune IP, they’ve announced Dune: Awakening – an open-world survival MMO set on the planet of Arrakis. Players can explore the world, venturing into unmapped sectors and discovering secrets. But they’ll need to do it fast because coriolis storms can roll through at any minute and change the landscape.
Players will also need to keep an eye out for sandworms as they explore, particularly if they’re looking for somewhere to begin building a home. One day that home will be a base and no one wants worms messing that up.
Since spice is life in Dune, a big objective in this game will be seeking out spice blooms and harvesting them. That comes with dangers as well. Other people are going to want that spice, and players will need to defend against those who want to take it.
Dune: Awakening is already listed on Steam, so those who want to wishlist it can do so now. There’s also a new trailer, as always it can be viewed below.
