HoYoverse Reveals Critter Collecting Game, Honkai: Nexus Anima
Recruitment for closed beta testing is underway.
It’s been a while since HoYoverse teased its new Honkai game. At the time, all we knew was that it takes place in the Honkai universe, that somehow Blade from Honkai: Star Rail is part of it, and that it’s a critter game.
Today, we got a closer look at Honkai: Nexus Anima via a new trailer and a gameplay video. The game combines creature collection with strategy elements. As many people in the YouTube comments pointed out, it’s probably the reason we’ve seen all the auto-chess battle events across HoYo’s games lately. Based on the videos, it seems fairly cozy, but as it’s described, there will be problems for players and their companions, known as Anima, to deal with. The “unseen bonds between concepts like Light and Dark or Life and Death have ruptured”. That can only mean trouble.
As with any creature-collecting game, players will work to form bonds with the Anima, each having their own powers that can be combined in battle. A bit of that can be seen in the gameplay video below. That said, a lot of the video highlights the game’s world and how players will interact with it. Despite the problems that plague the Honkai universe, the town in the game seems fairly relaxed. I won’t let that fool me, though. Experienced players of HoYo games know they like to bring the emotional torment. And it's bound to happen since H:SR's Blade and H:I3's Kiana are involved.
As is the case with HoYoverse games, Honkai: Nexus Anima will be free-to-play. It will also be available to play on mobile devices or PC. Signups are open for the upcoming closed beta test on the game's official site.
