In New Investment Deal, Ember Sword Adds 20 New People To Their Board Including Dr. Disrespect
The new additions range from former Blizzard Execs to influencers.
Some new people have jumped on the train of the "Pay-to-Earn" MMORPG Ember Sword. The new support for the game comes via a deal organized between developer Bright Star Studios and BITKRFT Ventures, which added 20 new gaming executives and various influencers to the game’s board. According to a post on MMORPG, these individuals include some fairly familiar faces, such as former Blizzard CCO Rob Pardo, YouTuber Dr. Disrespect, and the founder of Twitch, Kevin Lin.
Prior to this, the game received over $203 million in pledges from gamers looking to purchase virtual plots of land. Considering the game is still in alpha, it’s easy to see why folks with an interest in making money are willing to get involved. Of course, there were some statements from a few of those involved, such as Pardo, who mentioned MMO worlds being “traditionally still inaccessible” with them requiring large downloads as well as having potentially low engagement. He also noted that they’re “in a closed market, meaning there no way for players to generate real-world value,” which brings us back to money-minded folks.
Still, it seems the game has a decently sized community already. So, as long as they’re happy...
