Zenless Zone Zero’s Version 2.5 Update Brings The Game’s First Dual-Form Void Hunter

Earlier today, HoYoverse hosted Zenless Zone Zero’s Version 2.5 Special Program, offering players details on what’s next for the Proxies and their Agents. The story continues in Failume Heights, picking up where things left off with Ye Shunguang and her brother Ye Shiyuan as we try to find a solution to the side effects of her ties to the Qingming Sword while delving deeper into the mysteries of the Lemnian Hollow and the Creator.

The update introduces two new playable S-Rank characters to the free-to-play action RPG: Ye Shunguang, who will also be the game’s first dual-form Void Hunter, and a senior judge of Krampus, the adorable yet frightening Zhao. Players will receive Zhao for free, along with the materials needed to take her to Level 40. (I’m starting to think HoYo has a thing about giving away tiny pink ladies wielding giant swords.) Speaking of free goodies, Jane fans will be excited to know that a free outfit for our favorite rat thiren will be available in the update.

To prepare players for the arrival of Ye Shunguang, the ZZZ team has already kicked off a new event in the game, “The Coronation of the Void Hunter”. This will offer players a chance to obtain Polyhchromes and other rewards for completing some pre-launch objectives, such as pre-registering for the update. To access this, go to the daily login “Pre-Registration Gifts” under events. In the bottom right corner, you’ll see a button to ”Go to Pre-Registration”. Click that, and it will open a menu for the upcoming update. Interacting with the options on the left side will show you how to earn tickets that can be used to draw prizes. Some are real-world items, but you’ll most likely get leveling items and Polychromes.

As for new characters being introduced, Ye Shunguang is bringing along her own bangboo, Sprout. Sprout uses flying swords to attack enemies and does even more damage when in a party with its master. Ye Shungang and Zhao will be available to roll on throughout the entire Version 2.5 run. A special rerun channel will be available in the latter half of the version, guaranteeing that the first s-Rank signal obtained will be one of the player’s choice between Alice, Soldier 0 – Anby, or Astra. The same guarantee holds for their W-Engines as well.

Speaking of existing characters, several favorites are being enhanced in this update. Burnice, Soldier 11, Grace, Soldier 0 – Anby, and Ellen are all getting new skills, and a “Potential Vision system” is being introduced to implement additional enhancements. The devs plan to continue this for Agents going forward, including standard ones.

Version 2.5 arrives on December 30. When it drops, it will also include other changes intended to improve systems for players. Some of these changes will impact repeatable content, expanding on Hollow gameplay and multiplayer combat. For new and returning players, the update also introduces a way for players to skip directly to the new story content via “Advanced Screening”. These players will also have access to limited-time channels that will help them build their squads.
