Independent Developer Monumental Acquires Crowfall MMO And Dev Team
The transition of control for the game began today.
Here’s an unexpected bit of news for a Friday night. Just a short while ago, independent developer Monumental announced that they have acquired the MMO Crowfall from developer ArtCraft. They also announced that the transition of operations would begin today, but that it would not interrupt the game’s service.
For players who may be worried about the game switching teams, don’t be. In the acquisition deal, Monumental also acquired the development team from ArtCraft. That’s not to say they’ve acquired all of ArtCraft. The company will continue to exist. One of the people making the transition is ArtCraft President and Executive Producer Gordon Walton who stated that he’s “personally and professionally excited to be joining the Monumental team as part of [the] transition.” He also stated that “Monumental sees [Crowfall] as more than a unique and compelling game” but as “an online platform designed around player interaction and a perfect platform for experimentation.”
Monumental CEO Monty Kerr also noted his pleasure at bringing Crowfall into the fold, adding that “Gordon brings an extraordinary team of talented and creative developers, as well as decades of experience building and operating MMOs.”
