NCSoft’s Throne And Libery Projected To Launch On PC And PlayStation 5 In Q4 2022
Business models will be announced soon.
Throne and Liberty, the game everyone thought was going to be the next big Lineage game when it was still known simply as Project TL, will be launching on PC and PlayStation 5 later this year. In fact, according to an interview with the South Korean site Inven (translated by Sarumonin), the company expects to launch the game in Q4 – just in time for the holidays. It may or may not launch on Xbox Series X|S. The developer mentioned "next-gen consoles" but only mentioned PC and PS5 by name.
With the launch scheduled for later this year, players will likely be wondering what the game’s business model will be like. NCSoft hasn’t offered up any real information on that as of yet, which makes some sense as the game was officially announced not too long ago. That said, they have revealed that they intend to offer information on that sometime in the Summer. Until then, expect them to continue to be cagey about it, as is the case when Inven asked about their plans. Rather than answering directly, Project Director Choi Moon-young said that "there's talk of a business model, but I think in the end, a well-made game will definitely have a user who will look at it." He’s not wrong about that, but there's always the possibility of killing a good game with crappy monetization.
