Overwatch 2 Is "Redefining" Its Gameplay With A New Perks System, A New Best-Of-7 Stadium, And Heroes
New gameplay features, heroes, and more are highlighted.
Remember the "groundbreaking changes" Blizzard teased were coming to Overwatch?
It would seem the Overwatch 2 team is busy preparing all kinds of things to roll out in the hero shooter throughout the year. Today, the devs shared some of the things players can expect to see as 2025 rolls on. These include a new addition to core gameplay titled “Perks”, the new Stadium battleground game mode, and new heroes, among other things.
Perks are hero-specific bonuses that offer players more ways to customize strategies. They allow players to choose from various upgrades to their kit, creating new gameplay options. The Stadium is Overwatch 2’s “biggest game mode”. It’s a best-of-7 system that rewards players with coins each round that can then be used to customize abilities.
As for the heroes… Two have been shown so far. Freja is a search and rescue operative turned bounty hunter. She’s armed with a crossbow. The other hero is Hero 44 who can most easily be described as a water bender, at least based on the information they’ve given so far.
Details on the above features as well as other changes and additions are available in the video below. Or, if you’d rather read about it, you can go to the Overwatch 2 site.
