I play wizard101 and you do get free areas you can level up all the way to 80. If you can only go to the free areas it just takes longer. You don’t need to buy a subscription you can go to Walmart, target, GameStop and buy a pre paid card for the game.

if we look at wizard101, it will another pay2win crap that hides behind f2p

  5. VinalG4ce on April 28, 2012

This is actually not a free-to-play. Their form of free-to-play is a very short Demo. The whole thing is a subscription based game. If I can remember you can only level to 6 only.

For more information go to: https://www.wizard101.com/game/help-faq and see Billing Questions. They even got the balls to tell you,” Hah, we’ve tricked you. It’s a trial.” But they didn’t say that actually.

Rant aside, The game does give a very good quality experience and does hold up people’s interest from young to even old people; parents. But only if you pay.

From what i’ve been told, wizard 101 was pay2win on the verge of pay2play and it was aimed for 7 year olds, not my ideal mmo.

    • 70calories on April 28, 2012

Yeah they pretty much took something enjoyable and turned it into a cash cow

I enjoyed Wizard101 quite a bit the game play was very enjoyable I just did not like the theme to much but that was easy to look past about the only thing that turned me off from it was the pay2win aspect of it

Is it me or does it look like wizard 101 but with flying ship battles? i mean it has the instanced battles, its kid friendly, the only difference is that it is pirates not wizards. It would be ironic if they made Ninja 101 i might actually download if it is not as kiddy as wizard 101 or if it had a different name…..OR if they didnt make fun of the fricking asian cultrue

I don’t mind cute graphics or any of that stuff..I just am getting tired of my MMOs being targeted at 12 year old player base…

    • king on April 27, 2012

      i agree with u 100%

    • Phlash on April 28, 2012

If Pirate101 is anything like Wizard101, it won’t have a 12 year old player base. Wizard101 is well known for being a family game, played by parents and children together or alone. It has an extremely large age range for a game of it’s kind.

      • Zero0ninja on April 28, 2012

actually…i ESPECIALLY DON’T WANT TO PLAY IT NOW! u just remembered me after i posted mah comment that i saw a commercial for wizard 101 were they interviewed parents who played it and no offence…they were all fat..or at least from what i remember

        • BrandNewDaddy on April 28, 2012

Wow way to knock a game because you think the entire player base is fat, well some huge news for you(punn not intended), The US is in a obesity epidimec, so all of the games you play will have a large majority of fat kids, adults, and everything inbetween playing. Gaming=gaming addicts who in turn have no life and sit in front of the computer 24/7 gaining weight due to high fatty foods, and carbonated drinks.

Now do I condem all MMO’rs to such a demise, nope because honestly not everyone drops into such a low while playing video games. Honestly I used to play Wizard101, it was actually a great turn based family mmo, had some of the best parental security features. They even had time features that would warn your child that their time to play was coming to an end, or would eventually kick the child from the game once their time to play was up.

Anyways, I find your comment extremely bias, and immature, as for the being direct at 12 year olds, any game that does not have nudity, drug use, liquor use, mature themes, graphics gore, etc is actually directed at the youngest of players. The thoery is get them started young, get them hooked, and when they start working and learn mommy and daddy’s pin number on their credit/debit card start sucking in the bucks.
(note to parents, always make sure you keep your credit cards from your kids, way to run a great credit score into the ground!)

So to end this extremely over length comment, if you werent interested in this game, why say anything at all? like the rest of us, if it doesnt seem like your piece of pie, keep moving and find a better pie.

Or in short Zero0ninja, shutup dumbass!

          • Zero0ninja on April 28, 2012

The reason im not going to play it is i because im not a fan of turn based combat, though very nice response “BrandNewDaddy”

          • SteamChaos on April 28, 2012

Here is a reason why you fail..If it has to rely on drugs, sex or such things, I feel its directed at a 12..wait, 12 year old?

Yea my point is still, they try too draw in kids with just about anything. You either use sexual appeal or the “cute” appeal. The problem, is neither really do address my issue that I said. Why? The answer is simple, once you start playing the story gets too childish, or too bland. The game play is simplfied too be as child friendly as it can. Free too play games really can’t stop kids from playing so, they forsake new things too tend too the limited attention span of kids.

Thats only the main reason I dislike game being targed at 12 year olds.

          • BrandNewDaddy on May 1, 2012

Hmmm Zero0ninja, thats not what it said in your last comment, so saying your not a fan of turnbased play would have actually made you look like less of an ass.
As for SteamChaos, yes I understand this concept as to how games are getting more and more childish, look at the latest expansion for WoW…a freaking Panda? basically an oriental theme’d Panada race…hmmm pixar’s Kung Fu Panda ring a bell?
Anyways, I have given up hope on most online gaming via PC, PS3 for me, or P2P games, I learned a long time ago, you pay for your game you only get the whiney little brats who actually have access to their parents cards, rather then the random child who just downloads and pks or kses or lags the server with random loot drops and screaming in all caps….I am going to start a foundation called GASCPOG(Gamers Against Small Children Playing Our Games) Or ill find an acronym that works. lol

    • KK101 on April 28, 2012

It looks good, lets hope that its not going to be ptp (pay to play) like wizard 101!

      • Omicron on July 13, 2012

actually, its gonna be like wizard 101 until a) they get rid of it or
        B) follow an example like star trek online. which is basically 100% free to play
