Reports Indicate Microsoft Is Offering To Allow Call Of Duty On PS+ If The ABK Purchase Goes Through
Sony has continued to object to the merger based on the idea that Microsoft would make the game Xbox Exclusive.
Microsoft and Sony are still in conflict over the Xbox manufacturer’s intent to purchase Activision Blizzard. For a while now, Sony has been issuing objections built mostly around the idea that Microsoft could make Call of Duty an Xbox-exclusive game, thereby locking PlayStation players who have been part of the CoD community out or, probably worse in Sony’s eyes, forcing them to move over to Xbox to continue playing.
Microsoft however, is determined to move ahead with the purchase and according to reports is offering Sony the opportunity to put the shooter on PlayStation Plus. This offer follows others, like extending Sony’s licensing well past the currently existing deal. They’ve even offered 10-year distribution deals to Nintendo and Valve.
Sony isn’t the only organization attempting to stop the merger. The FTC is in the process of suing Microsoft over the $70 billion attempted acquisition. As this would be the largest merger in the history of the video game industry, it seems all the players insist on being involved. We’re closing in on a year now since Microsoft first announced its intent to buy Activision Blizzard, and it doesn’t appear we’ll be seeing a resolution any time too soon.
