Square Enix Is Changing Up How To Get Final Fantasy Fan Festival Tickets This Year, NA Opt In Is Up Now
Get ready for a raffle system.
The North American round of the Final Fantasy Fan Festival is taking place in Las Vegas this coming July, but before we get there, there’s an important step that needs to be taken by anyone who wants to attend, the fight for tickets. This year, the number of people clamoring for tickets will likely be even higher than in previous years. After all, this year marks the celebration of Final Fantasy XIV’s 10th Anniversary. Plus, there was that big influx of people who started playing in the last couple of years and just stayed.
To ease the pain a bit, Square Enix announced a new system for buying the tickets – which will run players $199.99 USD as well as taxes and fees. They’re working to accommodate a bigger audience in general, and one of the ways they’ve decided to do that is with a player-exclusive ticket purchase opt-in. This is a bit of a raffle system in which players with active subscriptions on a North American Square Enix account can register to indicate an interest in buying tickets. This doesn’t guarantee players will get to buy the tickets, but will offer them a chance to receive an access code that will allow them to skip the digital line, as it were.
Players lucky enough to receive a code – sent via email – will be able to buy up to two tickets. There won’t be any need to fight the website or other players, as Square Enix set up a week-long purchase period for those who have a code. This will run between March 6 and March 13.
For those who don’t receive a code, there’s still a chance to get tickets, as a general sales period will open on March 15 if any tickets are left. For this, you will need to be there when it opens, and hope you manage to hit the site before everyone gets one. Also, note that any tickets that could have been purchased using codes but weren’t will be included in this. (So, if you get a code and don’t purchase during the week-long period, you will have to get in the virtual queue with everyone else. Don’t do that to yourself.)
In both the player-exclusive purchase period and the general sales period, players will be limited to a purchase of two tickets each, so if you were planning on trying to get together as a group and have one person who is lucky enough to buy tickets for everyone, you may want to rethink the strategy.
If you’re interested in taking part in the player-exclusive purchase period, you can do that starting now. You’ll have until February 25 to enter. Results will be made available on March 3. As always, more details can be found on the Final Fantasy XIV Lodestone.
