Gearbox Publishing and Cryptic Studios are happy to announce the latest update for the popular free-to-play space MMORPG, Star Trek Online: Refractions. This new season launches today on PC, and later on consoles. This new season will have players unraveling the ending of the “Terran Gambit” arc that had the agents of the Terran Empire pursuing a mysterious initiative for their Emperor. The story last ended when the Terran Emperor Wesley Crusher summoned The Other to him in the Mirror Universe where The Other then merged with the Emperor. Star Trek: Refractions will have The Federation stepping in to put a stop to the emperor’s plans as he makes his way to planet Earth.

This new season will also feature talented voice actors from their original, iconic roles. Wil Wheaton will return as Terran Emperor Westly Crusher, Gates McFadden as Terran Dr. Beverly Crusher, and lastly Chase Masterson as Terran Admiral Leeta. In addition to the exciting story continuation, this new update will also bring a brand-new task force operation titled, “Bird Cage”. This operation is a five-player mission that will act as a prequel to the episode of Fujiwhara Effect. Players will need to execute a prison break in the Mirror Universe with the help of four other captains to free Terran Dr. Beverly Crusher. It is only after her rescue that she can then try to stop her son’s tyrannical reign.

Players will also be able to enjoy two new patrols, Jupiter Station and Khonshu Khaibit, a ground and space patrol both inhabiting the “Terran Gambit” Mirror Universe. A brand-new Picard Season 2-themed lockbox, A Safe Galaxy, will also hold numerous “Confederacy” and “Watcher weapons and gear as well as the mysterious Tier 6 Worldrazer Temporal Op Juggernaut, as seen in Picard Season 2.

Lastly, veteran and new players alike can enjoy Star Trek Online’s 13th-anniversary event from today until February 23. Through this event, players will be able to earn a new Tier 6 ship, the V’ger-themed Compiler Science Dreadnought. Players can also collect Omega Fragments in order to craft Omega Tech upgrades from Q and his much-anticipated Omega Molecule Stabilization Game.

Star Trek Online is currently available on PC, Playstation 4, and Xbox One. PC players can download the game for free on Star Trek Online’s site and begin to play through this exciting new update.
