The Day Before Steam Block

In an unexpected turn of events, The Day Before's game page got blocked by Steam at the request of a "private individual." The unnamed person registered the game trademark "The Day Before" in the United States, making it unavailable for developer Fntastic.

The devs announced the out-of-the-blue situation via Twitter and explained the trademark was available when the game got announced in January 2021. According to Fntastic, they became aware of the claim on "The Day Before" trademarking on January 19th through a complaint they received from a private individual. The company plans to "solve everything" and figure out the circumstances behind the incident but this will lead to several setbacks.

The biggest one is that Fntastic will postpone the official launch of The Day Before to November 10th, 2023. Moreover, the raw gameplay footage they promised to show fans later this month got delayed. Fntastic wants to resolve the trademark issue before providing interested players a look at the footage and "will consult with lawyers first" before publishing it.

On Twitter, players are highly doubtful about Fntastic's situation, and many are scratching their heads over why the developer never got the trademark registered in the first place. What's your take? Let us know below!
