Total War: Arena Enters Closed Alpha
I'm a total Total War junkie, but I'm still not sure what to make of Total War: Arena. Creative Assembly has called their online multiplayer F2P game both a MOBA and an RTS, and they've been mostly silent since announcing it about a year ago.
That's changed now, as the developer is taking applications for the game's closed alpha. You can sign up for that here, or just glance at some recently released screenshots on the game's wiki.
What we do know is that each player will control three units, and there will be 10 players per side. Looking at the pre-game map, I'd guess that each player will want to specialize their units, such as with ranged or infantry or cavalry troops, thus creating overall forces akin to MMO or MOBA groups, like with tanks, DPS, support, etc. Could be neat or could be a disorganized mess. We'll see.
