Our Most Played MMORPGs
Here's what the MMOBomb staff have been playing this year.
This week we're looking inward, and asking ourselves what our most played MMORPGs of the year have been so far. From classic MMOs to the new hotness, here's what the staff at MMOBomb have been playing the most in 2023.
Final Fantasy XIV
Final Fantasy XIV is Mike and Q's main MMORPG. They've been partaking in the Final Fantasy XIV life for years, and it's hard to see any other game taking the place of XIV for them. With its rich storytelling and world-building, Final Fantasy XIV remains not only a top MMO for Q and Mike, but also for many others who enjoy MMOs. With the Dawntrail expansion coming up in 2024 that playtime is sure to only go up next year.
The Elder Scrolls Online
The Necrom chapter of The Elder Scrolls Online brought Troy and Mike back to ESO this year. The setting and story of the expansion pushed all the right buttons for both of them and provided a fun return to the game that both come and go from quite frequently. ESO isn't anyone's main game, but it's a strong number 2 MMO that offers plenty to do and lots of great stories to follow.
New World
New World remains the world Troy visits most often. From the survival-style crafting to the fun PvP combat, the game offers a lot of player choice in what type of content you want to partake in. October 3rd marks the launch of New World's first paid expansion, Rise of the Angry Earth, and even Mike and Matthew are very interested in the update and changes to the game that are coming along with that. Mounts, baby!
Star Wars: The Old Republic
Troy still finds time to jump into Star Wars: The Old Republic now and then, especially when there's new story content to check out. SWTOR's story is great and really immerses you into the world whether you're a Jedi, Sith, Smuggler, or Mercenary. Even now, when the story content comes out in small trickles, it's still quality content always leaving you wanting more.
MapleStory
Mr. Dinofries loves him some MapleStory. While he's currently taking a hiatus from the game, it remains one of his most played games of this year. Troy has always been intrigued by the colorful 2D world of MapleStory, he just hasn't found the time to really dive into it the way he wants to. MapleStory remains a classic that is worth checking out if you're into bright, fun worlds.
Wayfinder
Wayfinder has intrigued us all this year, even with its lackluster launch. Matthew especially has really jumped into the dungeon-diving goodness that Wayfinder offers. Airship Syndicate recently revealed a new playable character coming to the game that is sure to reignite the interest of Mike and Troy.
Now you know ours...but what's your most played MMOPRG this year? Let us know below!
