Shadowverse: Worlds Beyond Gameplay

Last week, I mentioned I’d just started playing Shadowverse: Worlds Beyond. I’m hooked on this new F2P card game, man. But after checking the Steam page and seeing its “Overwhelmingly Negative” rating — still holding strong today with over 12,000 reviews — I started to wonder if I was missing something.

Maybe I’m still in the honeymoon phase, but I’m still very much enjoying it. The visuals are sharp, the interface feels smooth, and the animations are top-notch. It also seems pretty generous with free resources — I’ve already built a few solid decks without spending a dime. Between the daily missions, park chests, and early login rewards, there’s a decent stream of stuff to earn.

So why all the hate? Most of the backlash seems to be coming from longtime fans of the original Shadowverse CCG. From what I gather, the monetization in Worlds Beyond feels tighter compared to the previous title. And, cosmetics from the old game didn’t transfer over, apparently (which is definitely not cool). This new one seems like a step back in some areas.

That said, from a new player’s perspective, Worlds Beyond is dope. There are more pros than cons for me at the moment. Perhaps the shine will wear off eventually, but for now, I’m having a blast.
