Pirates of the Burning Sea is a free to play 3D MMORPG featuring high-seas action and adventure in a bold world of pirates and plunder. Set against the backdrop of the New World of the 18th century, players can choose one of three nations – England, France or Spain – or choose the role of a Pirate and battle it out for glory and power. With its beautiful graphics and immersive gameplay, would-be swashbucklers can strap on their swords and hit the high seas for free in this bold adventure of piracy and plunder, where the seas are teeming with new captains ready for battle.

Virtual buccaneers can engage in fierce ship to ship combat in real time, complete with the roar of cannon fire and the crunch of timber as masts and hulls are shattered, sending enemies to the bottom of the briny deep or helpless and ripe for looting. Pirates of the Burning Sea also allows players to choose one of three fighting styles – classic Fencing, the flashy dual-wielding Florentine or treacherous Dirty Fighting – and engage in intense one melee combat in one on one duels, as well as boarding and taking control of enemy vessels.

The game’s Conquest system turns any of the more than 80 ports into a battleground, as rival players accrue points in both PvE and combat, culminating in a period of PvP warfare that determines who controls the port, and all of its valuable economic resources. Burning Sea also features an economy completely run by players, forging their own empires across the Caribbean; players can build their own quarries, distilleries and timber mills, managing large-scale production and distribution in a cutthroat world of commerce where profits are the dream and desperate measures the reality.

Pass this game by. the back stabbing stealing, trolling and just all over douchebaggery is epic in this game. Outdated graphics, huge amounts of lag, only about 40 people play, and they hop from nation to nation just to sink their friends and new players. Money suck comes to mind. %99 of the players i wouldn’t cross the street to spit on. Not worth the time and effort. Most of the players are below the age of 15 so you can imagine the amount of “No your mom” type attitudes in the game. Played for over a year and i wish i never downloaded the game in the first place

Sounds like someone has been kick around a bit huh? You must fleet a lot on a rat or mindless noob playing in Spain either way, why waste your time bashing the game? just uninstall please and let more people enjoy the game. Just because you suck so bad at it why try and run others off as well?

  5. Does anyone know about Role Play elements of this game? If there are any, I mean the game looks nice enough, I’d just like to be able to RP in a game like this.

This is dead only fan bois and people who have spent too much real cash on it are still logging in to view the corpse of this game. The last 2 remaining servers are still open only because 3 FLS employees (former employees) pooled their cash and bought the publishing rights (presumably at a bargain basement price) There aren`t even enough people still playing this game to consider it a Massively Multiplayer game.

I dont think this game shut down. Or do you mean the servers are down because on their website the first article is called “We’re Back!” so I’m guessing the game is up again!
I never played very far into this game, was it really that good???

This game is hasn’t been shut down. But Sony didn’t want to keep it online so creators of POTBS got their own servers from now on they publish the game.I can tell you that this game is the best pirate mmo i’ve ever played before and believe me i tried all of them.Game play is awesome questing, farming is great and not that hard however PvP is hard it’s very hard to get used to it.But really it’s worth a shot you guys should try it.

Oddly enough on first looks, many may shy away from the graphics and the whole “pirate” setting. In truth, this game is actually quite spectacular; from its vast world to its DEDICATED community; the combat is challenging but extremely rewarding. Each career having it’s own set quests and ships, Naval Officers receiving the colossal ships that can mow down ships in a heartbeat.

Although most of the end-game is primarily PVP from the four factions, It’s certainly a test of what you will learn from the beginning levels of 1-49. The map is composed of various ports each holding a multitude of unique quests that will not only reward you with money and loot but they are each extremely important for a new-player to complete for the knowledge that they will impart to you throughout your levels; fortunately they are extremely colorful and quite interesting.

Now while the PVP might not be everyone’s cup of tea, it is certainly a game you should at least try out; it isn’t perfect but it’s certainly a wonderful experience that you should try out.

(Beginner Tip)- Players enjoy there silence at times, but don’t fret or feel that you are alone; players are always willing to help and offer advice as well as send invitations to their Socities (Guilds).

-Secondly, make sure you take sometime to consider your faction choices, your choice will be apart of your server until that character is removed or a Peace Treaty is brought up.

-Lastly, although the game is free-to-play the model is actually pretty lenient, offering you just enough that you can play the game with no problems
(Restrictions include some crafting restrictions, only able to hold two ships in your dock etc.)
they can be rescinded with real-world money; or you can combine in-game money for the real-world currency.

    8/10
