The Making Behind Naraka Bladepoint

The talented team at 24 Entertainment has come together to create a documentary to look back and reflect on the inspiration behind Naraka: Bladepoint. Despite the amount of competition in the battle royale field of game development, the team “knew what we could get out of the basic gameplay of the battle royale, last-man-standing survival games,” explained Lead Producer Ray Kwan.

While the beginning of the journey was difficult, the team continued to work hard to fulfill their united dream, a game that had simplified combat with simplified controls like the left button, the right button, and holding to charge. The team working at 24 Entertainment, like the Martial Arts Director Nie Yulin, strived to incorporate traditional martial arts into the core of the game, while Lead Artist Jonny Sun had his own desire to keep the game rooted within its Ancient Chinese roots.

“In the last year, we've updated the game twice a month, totaling nearly 30 versions, over 100 hero and weapon skins, 6 casual modes, 6 new heroes, 3 new weapons and a brand-new map — Holoroth.” explains the games level designer, Zhang Xu. The game continues to stay true to its original vision as they even recently invited Shaolin monks to the Hangzhou HQ to provide motion capture for the Staff in the game.

“I think every member of 24 Entertainment is a passionate player of action games,” explains Kwan. For those who would like to hear more, you can check out the full video behind the forging of Naraka: Bladepoint below.
